Free dental care
New Zealand children are entitled to free basic oral health services from birth until their 18th birthday. Dental staff will be in contact to let you know the time of your appointment each time they are due.
Free dental care is available for children aged 0 - 17 years old by the Community Oral Health Service. If you're not enrolled, it’s easy to sort out. Just call 0800 TALK TEETH (0800 825 583). You'll be guided through the enrolment process and sent the forms you need to fill in.
If you're Year 9 or above, you can choose the dentist you would like to have provide your dental care. Simply fill in the forms and give them to your chosen dental practice.
Basic dental care is free until the young person has their 18th birthday.
